Healing Properties: Considered a grounding gemstone when used with other gemstones. Thought to aid in problems associated with loss of status--hair loss, skin problems, etc.
Scientific Properties: Composed of a complex Aluminum, Calcium, Magnesium, Iron Silicate that is really a family of minerals varying across a range of compositions, grouped together in what Geologist's call, the Amphiboles or Amphibolite Group. The most common mineral in this family is Hornblende, so the names are often used interchangeably in the field.
Amphibolite is mined from Metamorphic or Igneous rocks and is often associated with Calcite and/or Quartz. Hardness: 5.0- 6.0 on the Moh's Hardness Scale
