Amphibolite Jewelry

Amphibolite is a dark, dusty gray-black, opaque gemstone rarely seen in gemstone form. To Geologists, the Amphiboles represent a family of minerals often seen in the field in igneous and metamorphic rocks and are usually termed, Hornblende when black in color. Mystical Properties: Sometimes called the Second Chance gemstone, wearing Amphibolite Jewelry is thought to provide us with another chance to make things right by stripping away our human tendency to be judgmental and defensive.

Healing Properties: Considered a grounding gemstone when used with other gemstones. Thought to aid in problems associated with loss of status--hair loss, skin problems, etc.

Scientific Properties: Composed of a complex Aluminum, Calcium, Magnesium, Iron Silicate that is really a family of minerals varying across a range of compositions, grouped together in what Geologist's call, the Amphiboles or Amphibolite Group. The most common mineral in this family is Hornblende, so the names are often used interchangeably in the field.

Amphibolite is mined from Metamorphic or Igneous rocks and is often associated with Calcite and/or Quartz. Hardness: 5.0- 6.0 on the Moh's Hardness Scale
