Common in nature in small masses and crusts, Angelite is generally white. The blue and lilac varieties are considered gem-worthy. Important locales include New York, Ontario, Mexico, Switzerland and Peru. Hardness: 3-3.5 on the Moh's Hardness Scale. Owner Warning! Angelite is quite soft (can be scratched with a fingernail). When wetted, Angelite converts it to Gypsum, so extra special care should be used when wearing this lovely gemstone. Don't wear Angelite in the shower or swimming--keep it from water.
