Aragonite JewelryAragonite Jewelry

Aragonite is a soft gemstone, often formed near mineral springs. It derives its name from the River Aragon in Spain, where it was named in 1788. It is usually white or yellow in color, though sometimes green, brown or pink.
Mystical Properties: Wearing Aragonite Jewelry is thought to be helpful in removing stress and anger and helping one prepare for the calm needed in meditation. Said to improve patience, practicality and responsibility.

Aragonite was once the traditional gift for young adults, as it is said to bring balance and empowerment to the turbulent emotions of youth and help channel their energies constructively.

Aragonite crystals are generally needle-like, however, sometimes form in six-sided prisms, considered of mystical symbolic importance (Star of David, Soloman's Seal, Six-petaled Flower of Aphrodite, etc.)

Yellow or Golden Aragonite is thought important to the 3rd Chakra, while White Aragonite is considered important to the 7th.

Healing Properties: Strengthen immune system, help back problems, especially disc related, and aid in digestion. When warmed, to combat chills. Skin problems, including wrinkles and coarseness.

Scientific Properties: Aragonite is composed of a Calcium Carbonate with trace metals: Iron, Manganese, Strontium, Lead and/or Zinc.

Closely related to Calcite, most Aragonite will become Calcite over time. Aragonite is a major organic constituent of shells and pearls.

Commonly deposited around hot springs, in sedimentary rocks and some ore veins. 3.5- 4.0 on the Moh's Hardness Scale

Owner Warning! Because Aragonite is soft, it should probably not be worn in rings or bracelets. Use caution cleaning this mineral as it is easily broken down.
