Black Moonstone JewelryBlack Moonstone Jewelry

Black Moonstone, or Larvikite, is a gemstone with many names. Sometimes called Black Pearl Granite, sometimes called Black Labradorite, the gemstone is prized for the occasional flashes of blue fire in a black or dark blue gray background. The gemstone is mined in Larvik, Norway, hence the name, Larvikite. Used as a building stone in Western Europe. A close cousin to Labradorite. We also carry White, Silver Gray, Peach, and Rainbow. This is natural Moonstone, so please expect some minor flaws and imperfections.
Mystical Properties: Black Moonstone is thought to stimulate creativity, the blinding idea, the exchange of brilliant, learned and interesting conversation.

Thought to be a gemstone of Aquarius, ruled by Saturn until Uranus was discovered. Saturn rules the color navy blue and black, while Uranus is electricity--the flash of an idea or electricity.

Associated with the Root Chakra, Black Moonstone or Larvikite, is thought to increase our security in the strength of our own intellect.

Healing Properties: Learning disabilities. Stroke recovery. Brain function.

Scientific Properties: Composed of Anorthosite. Anorthosite is essentially a Diorite, or an igneous rock, composed almost entirely of feldspar, a complex Potassium Aluminum Silicate created from igneous melt. There are usually dark spots of Amphibolite and clear spots of Quartz as well. Found in Larvik, Norway. Hardness: 6.0 on the Moh's Hardness Scale
