Blue Tourmaline JewelryBlue Tourmaline Jewelry

Blue is one of the rarer colors of Tourmaline and quite beautiful in the multitude of shades natural Tourmaline is known for. Most expensive of all Blue Tourmalines--even more than Watermelon Tourmaline--is Paraiba Blue Tourmaline, a stunningly bright neon cobalt blue. Blue Tourmaline sometimes referred to as a Indicolite.
Mystical Properties: Wearing Blue Tourmaline Jewelry is most often said to improve our natural psychic abilities and induce visions. It is also mentioned as giving us the ability to commune with creatures of the water (dolphins, whales, etc).

A gemstone of the Muses, Blue Tourmaline is thought to help us be fair in decision making.

This gemstone has been mentioned as being appropriate for many Astrological signs, including the Venus Ruled Taurus/Libra, however, Blue is the color of Capricorn.

Said to vibrate strongly with the Brow Chakra (or 6th Chakra), the Chakra thought to give us Insight, ESP and Psychic Powers.

Healing Properties: Thought to help with glandular disorders, eyes and brain.

Scientific Properties: Composed of a complex Lithium bearing Borosilicate.

Most of the gem-grade Tourmaline comes from Southern California and Brazil. Paraiba Blue Tourmaline contains some Copper, which gives it the stunning blue coloration. Some less than scrupulous dealers will call anything Paraiba, so be aware that this is exceedingly rare and exceedingly expensive. True Paraiba comes from Paraiba Brazil, though some other deposits of copper bearing Tourmaline have been found in Mozambique and Africa. Hardness: 7.0-7.5 on the Moh's Hardness Scale.
