Charoite Jewelry

Charoite is a newly discovered, rare semi-precious gemstone found in only one spot in the world--in Yakutia, Russia. Similar in color to Sugilite, Charoite is a mottled or swirly purple gemstone, usually with some black and/or white matrix. Charoite is thought to be named after the Chara River near where it was discovered circa 1978, hence the name. Some people claim the name comes from the Russian chary which means charms or magic. Mystical Properties: Thought to be a gemstone that stimulates creativity on the edge of reality.

Wearing Charoite Jewelry is thought to help those dealing with fear, especially the fear associated with major life changes and give the drive and energy to help get through the time. Thought to reduce stress and worry.

Charoite is associated with the 6th Chakra, or 3rd Eye and therefore thought to improve psychic abilities.

Healing Properties: Muscle tone. Reduces excitability, acidic conditions, arthritis, gout. Nervous conditions.

Scientific Properties: Composed of Potassium/Sodium Calcium/Barium/Strontium Hydrous Silicate. Charoite is formed by the contact of magmatic and metamorphic rocks.

Found only near the Charo River in Russia. Hardness variable: 5.0-6.0 on the Moh's Hardness Scale.

Buyer Beware! With the fall of the Iron Curtain in Russia, Charoite flooded the market at very reasonable prices, however, most of the Charoite on the market today is increasing in price and lower and lower in grade. Genuine, natural Charoite is likely an excellent investment (as are all gemstones found in ONE spot in the world). If you are not paying a pretty penny for this gemstone, be extremely wary.
