Great Investments JewelryGreat Investments

Certain Semi-precious Gemstones make Great Investments!. Why? They're found in one spot in the World, or are near to being mined out with low likelihood of replacement. So it doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to figure out these will likely appreciate nicely in value. Give a sweater as a Gift? It's likely to end up at the Salvation Army in a couple years--BUT a nice piece of Jewelry can be an heirloom that only appreciates in value! Many of these gemstones are increasing in price at a truly alarming rate.
CharoiteDiscovered quite recently in the late 70's, the only deposit currently known is near the Charo River in Russia. With the fall of the Iron Curtain, this gemstone entered the market at relatively inexpensive prices. Today it is nearly mined out with most of the Charoite now heavy with white matrix rock.
Coral (Natural)The mining of natural Red/Pink Coral has now been permanently banned. Once the current stocks have been depleted, no more is available making this an excellent investment!
LarimarLarimar is really Pectolite, a rather common mineral. What makes Larimar so rare and expensive? The baby blue variety of Pectolite, known as Larimar, is found in only one spot in the world, the Dominican Republic. It is a beautiful Baby Blue and very reminiscent of a peaceful blue ocean.
SeraphiniteFirst described by a Russian Minerologist in the late 1800's, this gemstone is found in Eastern Siberia. Again, found in only one spot in the world, this gemstone is a rare silvery forest green Mica named after the Angels thought to sit by God's throne, the Seraphim.
SugiliteDiscovered quite recently in the late 70's, the original deposit in Japan has long been mined out. There is a source in South Africa. This semi-precious gemstone has nearly priced itself out of the market in recent years and the inevitable fakes of course, have been cropping up, most of it a purple looking Mica called Lepidolite. How to tell? Lepidolite is EXTREMELY soft, whereas Sugilite cannot be scratched by a knife.
TanzaniteDiscovered around 1967, there is a single known deposit of this gemstone in Tanzania. Highly prized for the ethereal blue coloring, most Tanzanite is heat treated. The GIA estimates the mine will be exhausted in about 5 years. Owning some Tanzanite, then, would seem like an excellent investment!
