Hemimorphite Jewelry

Hemimorphite is a rare gemstone, usually found around Zinc mines. In gem grade, usually snow white, teal, turquoise blue or green. In the old days, Hemimorphite was known by the name of Calamine. Hemimorphite gets its name from Greek, meaning half-form referring to Hemimorphite crystals which are different shapes at the two ends.

Mystical Properties: A beautiful, pastel, yet crisply colored gemstone, wearing Hemimorphite Jewelry is said to help reduce stress and ease feelings of despair and anger. Considered a soothing and calming gemstone, especially for those with a bad temper. Thought to improve all manner of presentation, including being more charming, less angry, less stressed.

Considered very beneficial to brain function, including providing healing as well as helping the electrical impulses of the brain function properly.

Scientific Properties: Composed of a complex Zinc Hydrous Silicate. Hemimorphite is generally associated with Zinc mines and often found in association with the mineral, Smithsonite. The two minerals were crushed to create the Zinc Oxide solution we all know as Calamine Lotion, a skin soothant. The Green and Blue varieties receive their coloration from trace amounts of Copper. Essentially mined out in the U.S., most modern day Hemimorphite comes from Mexico.
