The mineral property labradorescence; gets its name from this gemstone and refers to the luminous blue/green/gold/red sheen given off when turned in the light.
Important localities include Madagascar, Finland (Spectrolite), Oregon and Mexico. 6.5- 7.5 on the Moh's Hardness Scale.
