Moqui Marbles Jewelry

Moqui Marbles are 1/2" to baseball sized concretions found in the Navajo Sandstone in Utah. Moqui Marbles get their name from the Hopi word "moqui" which means "dearly departed ones".

Mystical Properties: Ancient Hopi legends say that the spirits of their ancestors descend from heaven at night and play with the Moqui Marbles. This lets them know their departed loved ones are happy and well.

Often thought of as "Shaman Stones", having Moqui Marbles in the home is said to welcome the spirits of departed loved ones.

Healing Properties: None.

Scientific Properties: Moqui Marbles are composed of iron concretions over the sometimes pink Navajo Sandstone of Utah. Once considered of extraterrestrial (meteorite) origin, a recent geological study has shown these nodules were formed between 130-160 million years ago by rainwater.

Composed of iron and other trace metals over sandstone. Hardness: 5.0-6.0 on the Moh's Hardness Scale.
