Scientific Properties: Moqui Marbles are composed of iron concretions over the sometimes pink Navajo Sandstone of Utah. Once considered of extraterrestrial (meteorite) origin, a recent geological study has shown these nodules were formed between 130-160 million years ago by rainwater.
Composed of iron and other trace metals over sandstone. Hardness: 5.0-6.0 on the Moh's Hardness Scale.
