Rhodonite Jewelry

Rhodonite is a rather heavy, opaque, intense rosy pink semi-precious gemstone. Rhodonite will often have black runners called dendrites. A close cousin to Rhodochrosite, both Rhodonite and Rhodochrosite are ores of Manganese, with Rhodonite being the harder of the two. Considered a strongly feminine stone, as in the velvet glove over the iron fist. Rhodonite is thought to promote self-esteem and self-confidence.

Considered a feminine gemstone of Mars. This includes those born under the signs of Aries and Scorpio. Sometimes considered a gemstone of Love and associated with the Venus ruled sign of Taurus, whose color is rose pink.

Considered a gemstone of the Heart Chakra.

Rhodonite is the State Gem of Massachusetts.

Natural Healers associate Rhodonite with the Throat Chakra (5th Chakra), to help achieve potential and dispel worry.

The very pink varieties of Rhodonite are used to improve hearing loss.

Healing Properties: Said to help the lungs, especially emphysema. Also thought to help with inner ear problems.

Scientific Properties: Composed of Manganese Silicate. Being a Silicate, it makes a more durable gemstone than Rhodochrosite, which is a Manganese Carbonate.

The black banding is due to Manganese oxide. An ore of Manganese, important locales include Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Colorado. 5.5 - 6 on the Moh's Hardness Scale.
