** Information on this Gemstone **
Mystical Properties: There are legends surrounding the wise men of Tanzania, dolphins and the ancient civilization of Lemuria. It is said that Tanzanite was first discovered by Lemurians who found the gemstone helped accelerate men's development. Dolphins were used to transport the Tanzanite stones all around the world, spreading knowledge with it. However, men were not mature enough to keep this energy in balance and the ancient civilization fell.
Wearing Tanzanite Jewelry is said to help be a bridge to the Christ Consciousness and thought to be powerful in bringing about peace and agape.
It is said Tanzanite Jewelry should always be worn on the right side of the body.
Tanzanite is associated with the 6th Chakra, or 3rd Eye, and is thought to enhance Psychic Abilities.
Considered a gemstone of the Piscean born.
Healing Properties: Thought helpful for workaholics and those under much stress and pressure.
Scientific Properties: Composed of calcium Aluminum Hydroxyl Silicate, Tanzanite is in the Zeolite family. Zeolites are formed as secondary minerals of lava flows.
Tanzanite is colored by trace amounts of vanadium and is a strongly pleochroic gemstone (i.e., the color changes hues depending upon your view of the gemstone)
Found only in the Tanga Province of Tanzania, Africa. This gemstone was first promoted by Tiffanys, who bought up the mine and began selling Tanzanite for prices rivaling diamonds. The government then nationalized the mine and Tanzanite became more affordable, however, it is still exceedingly rare. Hardness: 6.0 on the Moh's Hardness Scale.
Buyer Beware! Tanzanite is a beautiful and relatively hard gemstone, however it is somewhat brittle and so must be worn with care.
